The Internet and social media sites like Facebook have stories that say the moon will soon appear green for the first time in 420 years. According to Earthandsky.org and other reputable websites like Snopes, this one is pure urban legend. Not on April 20th or any other date will this happen. www.earthsky.org comments that the 4/20 date has something to do with “420” which is slang for marijuana.
