Shop with a Cop took a major step in making Christmas better for local families who could use a boost.  Donors came to the Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill today to make contributions, along with pledges coming in over the phone.  The Shop with a Cop perps are pictured here: John LeFere, Blair Huff, John Karkheck and Police Chief Jay Niles.

Last year, Shop with a Cop was able to include more local kids than the previous year.  To do that again, donors can help.  Checks can be dropped off at the Columbia Township office, made out to Columbia Township with Shop with a Cop in the memo line.

Thanks to these generous people, the campaign is off to a good start.

How did things go in 2022?  Shop with a Cop progressed over two days in December.  Both mornings, John Lefere, and is wife Susan, pulled up to Columbia Middle School in their giant 48,000 pound motor home.  John LeFere handed out medallions to each kid, as they boarded the vehicle.

Escorted by police vehicles with lights flashing, they made their way to Walmart.  The kids picked out presents for others in their family.

They then traveled to the Brooklyn Sportsman’s Club, where club members helped the kids wrap the presents.

Each kid was then surprised with a gift of his or her own.  Oh, the wonderful mystery of opening a present when you’re a kid!

Thanks to Eagle’s Nest owner Blair Huff for hosting the fundraiser today.
