Run Clark Lake takes center stage Saturday morning, August 5th.  This major community event is widely recognized in the world of running.  Nearly a thousand gather annually to compete in the 5k, 12k, 5k Walk, and 3/4k Kids Run.  The Run starts a big weekend at Clark Lake.  It’s followed by Freedom Fireworks in the evening, and Raft-O-Rama on Sunday.

Run Clark Lake Director Pat Dwyer tells how it grew over 48 years.   The Clark Lake 7 was the starting point.  Along the way many athletes trained, succeeded, and won honors as they passed the finish line.   At the awards ceremony, top performers receive their trophies, prizes, as their names are recorded in permanent record.  Whether or not they won an accolade, many hold cherish this  unforgettable life experience.

Over the years, Run Clark Lake has made a big difference.  Pat Dwyer was one of the Spirit Trail founders, and funds raised from this run help support the Trail.  The Trail requires not only the love of unpaid volunteers, but at times, hiring third-parties for major maintenance and construction projects.  Two sections were repaved this year – the former railroad bed that runs parallel to Hyde Road, and through the County Park at the east end.
