The process of creating a raft entry for Raft-O-Rama starts in concept, but so much more is involved before the first Sunday in August at Clark Lake.  There are the practical concerns of how take an idea and bring it to life on a raft in the water. Then there is the creative flair needed to catch the eye.  All of this work may start months in advance, but no matter how well prepped, last minute touches take place.

Carl Nochel captured last minute activity early Sunday morning, catching the participants hard at work with cardboard, duct tape and whatever engineering marvels they had created.  Below are photos before the rafts lined up before the judges at the head-of-the-lake.  To view, click on the first one.  Then run your mouse over the right side until an arrow appears.  Click on that arrow to advance to the next photo.
