It’s only appropriate that Clark Lake gets hit with a blast of winter weather ahead of this event.  If the wind and cold don’t make you shiver, the thought of jumping into the lake will.  The Polar Plunge to support Special Olympics happens Saturday, January 25 at Eagle Point.  Registration takes place from 8:30-10 am at The Pointe Bar & Grill. The plunging begins at 10 am, the After Splash Bash starts immediately after the last plunger.

The sponsors invite you to register to participate for free, but the idea is to get pledges for Special Olympics.  To receive the T-shirt, individuals on a team need to average $75 per person. As of this writing (Sunday, January 19), the sponsors say they have raised $20,800, but have a goal of $40,000 for this event.   The Polar Plunge at Clark Lake is one of several that take place around the state of Michigan.  Will they have to chop a whole through the ice as in past years?  It looks like there is plenty of cold weather ahead this week.
