Two swans were caught napping near the boat launch at the head-of-the-lake around noon today (Thursday 1/7/16). Carl Noechel did the “catching” with his camera as he stood near the launch looking east.
Not all swans come away unscathed from a nap on the ice. Ann Swain tells the story of one that did not a few years ago. Click here to read it. (If you’re interested in swans, there are several stories scattered through Natural Encounters on this website).
Love the updates you are putting on Facebook. Keep up the good work. I also saw the beautiful sunrise yesterday but my view was through woods and across the field. Just spectacular.
