More luminaries than ever lined the Clark Lake shorelines this year.  Last night’s display was totally enjoyable, but capturing their essence in a photograph was demanding.  A pro like Diane Deming makes it look easy.

These luminaries are the work of the Raft-O-Rama committee.  Over the previous weeks, the team repeatedly met at Dan Omo’s garage, and filled hundreds of these bags with sand and candles.  They then went house to house offering a pre-made set for a $15 donation to Raft-O-Rama.  That so many people around the lake participated is a testament to how our community views this aspect of the Independence Day celebration.

Check out this video to see how the luminaries are created.
