Music on the lake has a long history. In the 1940s, the big bands played at Eagle Point, Ocean Beach, and Pleasant View.  Today, live music continues during the summer at the Eagle’s Nest and Beach Bar.  The bands or combos are not concert-sized, but in proportion for their restaurant venues and the lake.  But what about winter, spring and fall?  Outdoor music in the midst of snow and freezing weather just doesn’t work.

The Eagle’s Nest noticed that people love the live music, and were missing it.  So, Blair Huff and Jorge Orozco came up with a plan to present live music in a warm and friendly setting, and on a more intimate scale.   Enter “One on One Thursday Night Live.”  This series features a performer each Thursday night in the Room with a View.  That’s the room at the Eagle’s Nest closest to the Lakeside Patio and just a few feet away from the shoreline.  As the name suggests, the Room with a View features an awesome view of beautiful Clark Lake.  The idea is catching on.  Guests enjoy the food, drink, live music, and the lake.

Who are the performers?  Blair says “a variety of acts visit and are becoming crowd favorites.” Some familiar names include Ian Stewart (pictured above), John Griffin, and Thom Scanlon.  This Thursday (Feb 2) “we’re bringing in KayLyn Pace who is very talented and has an interesting history.”  From age 11, KayLyn performed at fairs and festivals around Michigan.  In 2016 she left Ann Arbor for Nashville and ever since it’s been back and forth from Michigan to Tennessee.  She has just released a new single based on deeply personal past experience.  She believes “What’s Right for You” is an uplifting anthem for anyone trying to get out of a toxic situation.  Click here for a video of one of her performances.

One on One Thursday Night Live happens at the Eagle’s Nest from 6:30 -8:30 pm.  When it comes to live music, Blair says “anytime of year, you can find it here.”
