Measuring ice John Calhoun 2015 03-05The National Weather Service is reporting that this February was the coldest on record in Jackson County.  So what does that do to for the depth of ice on Clark Lake?  Inquiring minds want to know.   John Calhoun, with the help of his grandson, went to work on the ice with the help of a motorized augur.  John’s calculation?  Twenty inches with another 4 inches of snow/ice cover.

The next question is will all the ice be melted in time for Raft-O-Rama?

Thanks to John Calhoun, his grandson and John Deming who worked on this story.
