One of Clark Lake’s big events of the season takes place this evening (Sat, Sept 14).  It’s Clark Lake Community Center’s Harvest Moon “Pig Roast and Tail Gate” from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm at Mickel’s Barn.   An early inspection this morning showed Mr. Pig gently roasting on the spit in front of Mickel’s Barn.  Anyone nearby will also get a preview of what’s ahead merely by sniffing the air.  Mr. Pig will be accompanied by barbequed chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and dessert.  Since the chicken will be surrounding Mr. Pig on the grill, it will take on just enough bacon aroma to make it irresistible.

Now about the “tailgate” part.  The barn is decorated with the banners and flags of a variety of schools.  You’re invited to wear your team garb (high school, college, or whatever) and decorate your table to match.  There will be a prize for the best decorated table.  And you’re welcome to bring your own beverage.

The band 13th Floor will perform.  Plus you will not want to miss the live and silent auctions.  An item to be auction tonight is very special–one of the original high chairs (for kids) from the Beach Bar.  This chair was used starting in the very first year of the Beach Bar’s existence.  How many of those attending tonight might have actually been in that very chair?

This is the Community Center’s biggest fundraiser, and it only occurs every two years.  The cost is $40 per person and you can get your tickets now at Doyle’s Party Store, Hyde Road, Clark Lake, or purchase them at the door.   The barn is located at 5423 N. Lake Road, Clark Lake.

There's lots of cool stuff on the walls of the barn. Check it out!
