An Onsted woman was injured when her car crashed into the sign in front of the Cornerstone Church, according to Columbia Township Police. The report shows 55-year old Elaine Rinehart fell asleep while traveling south on Constitution Avenue from Tiffany Street at the curve where the church is located. After impact, the vehicle erupted into flames. Police say she was able to free herself from the vehicle, but received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Henry Ford Hospital.
The accident occurred on Saturday, November 18th, at 4:12 am with both Columbia Township Police and Fire Departments responding. Police cited her for careless driving. They add alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but driver fatigue played a role.
