As reported yesterday, traffic was blocked on 127 (Meridian Road) between Jefferson and Wetherby Roads at about 5 pm for an extended period, due to an accident.  Today the Jackson County Sheriff reports that a 22-year old Albion man suffered fatal injuries in the crash.  

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the man was “southbound on U.S. 127 nearing Production Drive when he veered into the northbound lane of traffic and was struck head on by a northbound tanker truck.  The Albion man succumbed to his injuries at the crash site.  The driver of the tanker truck was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital for precautionary reasons.”

The Sheriff’s Department adds “Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation at this time.”
