A one car accident at the corner of Eagle Point and Jefferson blocked Jefferson Road traffic during the 9 pm last evening (Fri 6/9).
In the photo, the car is being hauled from a ditch on the south side of Jefferson Road.
Columbia Township Police report the accident took place at approximately 8:30 pm and that “the Audi A4 sedan occupied by the driver and one passenger failed to negotiate the stop on Eagle Point at Jefferson Road and thus entered the ditch on the south side of Jefferson and struck a tree. After further investigation into the circumstances into the crash it was determined that the driver was intoxicated and subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated. The driver, 29-year-old Ian J. Costello of Tipton Michigan was treated at the scene for minor injuries and then transported to Henry Ford Health, Jackson for evidence collection. Once completed at Henry Ford Health Costello was transported to and lodged at the Jackson County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). The passenger in the vehicle received no injuries. Assisting at the scene of the crash was the Columbia Township Fire Department.”
