Traffic was blocked on Jefferson Road at Eagle Point Road early this afternoon (Sun 5/28) because of an accident.  Cars were directed to alternate routes.

The collision involved two cars heading east on Jefferson Road.  The red Chrysler was waiting to turn left onto Eagle Point Road.  According to Columbia Township Police, the car behind it, a Ford, failed to stop in time and hit the car.  The driver of the Ford, a 16 year old, was ticketed for being “unable to maintain clear and assured distance ahead.”  Police say he had taken his eyes off the road briefly.  When he returned his attention to the road, he applied brakes, but not soon enough to avoid the collision.

Injuries were minor, according to police. With the driver of the Ford was a younger sibling.  In the Chrysler were a couple and their infant child.
