Columbia Township Police and Fire, and Jackson County Sheriffs Department were at the scene of an accident on Jefferson between Sandy Beach and Lakeview West this evening in the 8 o’clock hour.
In the aftermath, traffic was rerouted on the accident, using Sandy Beach, Lakeview or Eagle Point.
Police Chief Jay Niles says a 19-year old Jackson man was heading east on Jefferson when he “failed to maintain control,” crossed the center line, and ended up hitting a tree on the other side of the road. He also says the driver received minor injuries, but refused treatment. The driver was cited.
