As this website reported at about 6:45 pm on December 14, 2023, Columbia Charter Township Police and Fire Departments were at the scene of a traffic accident on Jefferson Road west of Wesch Road. The investigating officer determined “that a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox operated by 86-year-old Lois A. Staub was traveling eastbound on Jefferson Rd. As the vehicle was traveling east, a Ford F-250 was traveling westbound. As the two vehicles were passing each other the Chevrolet Equinox crossed the center line striking the Ford F-250. As a result of the crash neither vehicle was drivable. The drivers of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol is not a factor in this crash. The driver of the Equinox received a minor injury and was treated at the scene and refused transport to the hospital. Furthermore, the driver of the Equinox was cited for a civil infraction of driving left of center.”
