As previously reported on this website, Columbia Township has created a mailing that is set to go out to those in the sewer system. In the letter, the Township explains why they thought it was necessary to boost rates.
The Township created these flow charts to illustrate the cost to users on each of the lakes.
The Township is considering holding a special meeting to hear comments and answer questions about this rate increase. If that happens, you can find out about it on this website.
At the beginning and end of each regular meeting of the Township trustees, there is a 3 minute window to express your thoughts. Unlike the special meeting being considered, trustees at regular meetings listen to the comments, but don’t necessarily respond or answer questions. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the trustees is set for 7 pm, Monday, June 18th at the Columbia Township Hall.
Doesn’t the waste from LC and VL go through the lift stations at CL?
Shouldn’t all three areas share in the cost of the lift station?
Why do the CL pumps cost more that the others?
The sewer rate should be the same throughout the township. And should be based on how many facilities (i.e. toilets, sinks, etc.) your house has.
With X being a projected sewer rate, a house with a kitchen and 1.5 bathrooms, should pay 2.5X, where a house with a kitchen and 2 bathrooms should pay 3X, and so on. But, X should be the same, throughout the Township.
