It was worth the wait.  The Spirit Trail Cleanup was called off the past two Saturdays, but that changed in a big way today (Sat 4/6).  As as the cleanup progressed under sunny skies, the temperature topped 50.  The Clark Lake Spirit was in full evidence among the enthusiastic participants.  Picking up rakes, shovels, leaf blowers, and wheelbarrows, the army of volunteers tackled what winter had left behind.

The video below shows many who helped out today.  Hear their comments, including one from Carrie Collins.  She’s the daughter of Tom Collins who was passionate about and helped found the 7.3 mile path around Clark Lake.

Now with the work done, the Spirit Trail is ready again for the coming season.  Walkers, runners and cyclists will find the path clear as the countless enjoy this marvelous amenity.  Embracing Clark Lake is easy to do.  Check out the slideshow below.

The Spirit Trail is a Clark Lake treasure.  From 1996 to today, improvements have elevated it to ensure that it’s an amenity that all can enjoy.  Cyclists, runners and walkers are able to circle the lake, something difficult to do before the Trail.  Last season, two sections were repaved – through the County Park and the former Cincinnati Northern Railroad bed that parallels Hyde Road. Improvements like these are costly.
Through the years, expenses for third-party contractors have been covered through donations.  One source is the Welcome to Clark Lake Sign.  One-thousand dollars has been donated for each of the cast bronze plaques of names on the Trail side of the Sign.  Another help to the cause are donations received for the Spirit Trail benches placed within reach of the path around the lake.  The Clark Lake Spirit Foundation receives tax-advantaged donations at anytime.  Credit card donations can be made by clicking here.
