Walking by our living room window I saw what looked like an eagle chasing something above the lake.
I hurriedly got my camera and went into the front yard. When I got there, I observed two eagles flying around and they were chasing a seagull.
They were relentless in their pursuit.
The seagull finally got tired and landed in the lake.
The eagles made several attempts to pick him up from the water, but they were not successful. However, one was able to wound him pretty badly by dragging him by his left wing.
Towards the end of this fight one of the eagles landed in the lake next to the seagull who was on his back with his feet in the air.
I thought he was surely dead. Not so. They were both exhausted and the eagle had to get out of the water to dry his wings so he could fly again, leaving the badly wounded seagull. The seagull could not fly and slowly drifted to the east end of the lake and out of sight. The eagles did not come back, maybe thinking he was just too heavy to lift out of the water.
