Here are a few of my favorite Clark Lake memories:
Rollo Every’s Eagle Point, the Ball Diamond, the Old Hotel and the Roller Rink, the Eagle’s Nest, Clark Lake Players, the Water Slide and the Drop Off.
Watermelon at Every’s house, the measuring wall and dress up games. Cannon’s lined along the shore, every 4th of July.
Kentucky Point, the Lodge, Consumers Club House, the golf course, turtle town, rubber backs, garpike gigging, fire flies, the old Chris Craft.
The Yacht Club, Rebels racing, walking around the lake, stubbed toes on the sandstone walk, sparklers on the boathouse, Haskell Nichols, ship ahoy!
River Raisin at the Foot, Ocean Beach Pier, Elsie’s restaurant, Tom Collins, Beach Bar Pizza and the dam.
Grand River, the Head of the Lake, candy and comic books at Hop’s.
Robert’s and the Rail Road Tracks, Bud Weimer’s Clark Lake church.
South Side Lovers, North Side Turkeys, John Avis and a little green Hobie Fleet 58, Pig Roast, Volleyball, the Cone Stober, omelettes and champagne.
Pine Riders, Krupa’s jump, the yellow raft, life belts, wooden paddle-boards, Eddie’s dive in the inner tube… the result was a broken neck.
Circle boarding, Skiing double behind Clark’s raft, boater’s safety, Sheriff Thurman, Sheriff Luck, just another ticket on the lake.
The Ice Festival, Raft-o-Rama, Clark Lake 7, the first triathlon 6 months pregnant, Crab Races, the Spirit Trail and our wedding on the lake.
And the wonderful memories continue!
