George Truchan’s celebration of life at Clark Lake took to the air.  Helping to memorialize his passing, Sky Dive Tecumseh parachutists jumped to a target near the Eagle’s Nest.  Included also was a flyover.   See what happened in this video.

The event took place yesterday at the Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill.  George’s son, Jay, is pictured with Gary Blohm who played the bagpipe.

George Truchan, who had been a police officer and attorney, passed away at age 68 on June 27th.  His obituary tells how he moved his family to the area and opened a Brooklyn law office in the late 1980’s.  “He held many hats over the years, and obtained professional and honorable titles of police chief, public safety director, sheriff captain, police lieutenant, police sergeant, patrol officer, court magistrate, court director, and attorney-at-law.” His story notes how “he provided citizens with legal remedies through his law office and public safety within police departments, as he was able to capture active bank robbers, and criminals over the years, along with giving separate counsel to people in need of help. This giant loss has not only impacted George’s family, but will affect the entire tri-county area, law enforcement family, court family and friends.”

Many attended the function Monday afternoon (7/15) at the Eagle’s Nest.  His law enforcement career was fully evident not only by those who gathered at the event, but in other ways.  At 4 pm, a moment of silence and chaplain’s prayer occurred through the 911 Jackson County Central Dispatch.  In addition to the flyover and sky dives, Napoleon Township emergency vehicles were present at the gathering.
