For several years, the annual Clark Lake Cup Hockey Game featured players from both ends of the lake facing off to win the trophy.  Usually held early in February, spectators gathered at a rink created alternatively at the east end or west end, depending on whether Almeda Court or Eagle Point was hosting.

If a game occurs this year, it will be a last minute, informal affair.  “It’s not because of lack of motivation that the Clark Lake Cup is cancelled.  You need full squads on both sides.  Because of other commitments, the Almeda group did not have enough players,” says organizer B.J. Lyons.

Last year, the game was called off because of lack of ice.  Instead a gathering was held around a tennis court at the Eagle Point Cove.   It featured dodgeball and axe throwing.  Check it out below.

Smiling faces and wagging doggy tails.

Dodgeball means no mercy.

Work out the stress – throw an axe.

In 2023 it looked like the game wouldn’t happen, again because of ice conditions.  As it turned out on that sunny February day the was perfect at Clark Lake, and the game proceeded as planned.
