Black Lives Matter protesters assembled in Brooklyn on Saturday. Among the chants you’ll hear in this video include “Black lives matter, no justice no peace, no racist police, hands up don’t shoot, being Black is not a crime, and white silence is compliance.” Several signs added to their message such as “educate yourself” and “disband the police.” Another said “honk if you’re not a racist.” Some did.
As of 2 pm, Columbia Township Police report no unusual incidents. This 60-second video pieces together some of the activity observed in the 2 pm hour.
To give a further view of activity, here are some random photos taken at the event.
The expected hours of activity were 10 am to 5 pm. After the event concluded, Interim Police Chief Jay Niles reported “no injuries, no damage.”
Without mentioning names, does anyone recognize any locals protesting? Just asking if this protest was initiated by outsiders or if in fact there was any local representation?
This protested consisted almost exclusively of people born and raised in Brooklyn.
I helped organize and am a local, people also helped from nearby towns such as Napoleon and vandercook!
Nice to see the heartfelt concern for fellow human beings!
Thank you Taylor and Abby for the information!
I was there from Clarklake.
I hadn’t heard about this but also would have attended. Well done!
