Jackson County erected barricades to Lakeview West this afternoon as a cautionary warning of a road problem. They will remain until JCDOT (formerly the Road Commission) repairs the road over a culvert. In this video, Michael McCarthy, a nearby neighbor, explains the hazard.
In the video,, Michael refers to a previous repair made by Columbia Township. It’s likely that the County did that repair.
It’s easy to see how a car or bike traveling over the road could break through, leading to damage or injury.
The drain under the road carries water from the Eagle Point swamp to the lake.
