Mike Bullinger and Tim Claucherty continue to lead the league. At week 9, they are 7 and 2. Last season’s league champs, Tom Nelson and John Menard, are right behind with a solid 6 and 3 in the Green Division.
In the Red Division standings, Bobby Schnell and Marv Walczak lead. At 5 and 4, their win/loss is tied with team they played and defeated last night, Leighton Uhl and Dennis Wenzlick. Schnell and Walczak edge ahead based on tie breakers, such as point differential and points scored.
Here are the results from last night’s competition at the Beach Bar.
Review standings week to week in this slide show.
The plaques over the longboard tell the history of the game, going back to 1993. Each year shows two names, the partners who were league champs. Today the league is stronger than ever, and has a waiting list. But some members have departed. Some have moved, and sadly, some have passed away.
One founding member, who has played from the beginning, is Tucker Boyers. Playing almost as long is Tom Nelson. Not only part of the competition each week, Tom’s role is keeping the statistics, and calculating game results every week and for the season.
Tucker points something out to Tom.
Is it possible to determine a GOAT in Clark Lake Men’s Shuffleboard? What complicates the math is each team consists of two members. When a member departs, that person is replaced with a new partner. That happened to Tucker. When Bill Tuttle moved from Clark Lake, Jerry Dobbs became Tucker’s new partner.
So, to determine the one member who could be described as having the most season wins, or the Greatest of All Time, the names of the annual champs were counted separately. Here are the results:
Tucker and his current partner, Jerry Dobbs
Did Dennis and Leighton play left-handed? Only two points scored. Maybe they could blame it on the weather? 🙂
