Independence Day is just around the corner. Once again the Raft-O-Rama team has crafted hundreds of luminaries for display along Clark Lake’s shoreline. Tomorrow (Sat 6/22), Krissy Hull will be handing out luminaries at the old Mugsy’s store on Ocean Beach Road. She will be in the parking area between 10 am – 1 pm. Just stop by, say hi to Krissy, give her the $15 donation, and she’ll get you set up to join the many others at Clark Lake who will display luminaries on Thursday, July 4th. Raft-O-Rama team members will also be making house calls. That knock on the door could be someone from Raft-O-Rama.
The luminaries come in a handy Clark Lake tote bag that is branded with the names of sponsors who help defray costs. Inside are ten specially designed paper sacks. For stability, they have been loaded with sand. On top of the sand is the small candle to be lighted on July 4th. Every year, it seems more Clark Lakers place them along shorelines creating a magical effect. The candles usually burn through the night.
