Monday, November 11, 2024 is Veterans Day.
Unlike now, Veterans did not always hear “thank you for your service.” During Viet Nam, returning soldiers and sailors were often met with condemnation, disparagement, or some other kind of disrespect. The military sometimes advised servicemen not to wear their uniforms when passing through airports. Fortunately, things are different today.
Clark Lake veterans served their country well. In this video, produced in 2017, some of them tell their story. Experiences include World War II, Vietnam, and other military involvements. Featured in the video is World War II veteran Jack Bentley who passed away in 2018. Through several interviews with this website, Dr. Bentley recounted his military experience. Also in the video is Jim Dandar, who tells of his military service, and that of his father. Like Jack Bentley, Jim’s father has also passed.
Others in the video are Michael McCarthy, Flip Reynolds, Frank Hones, Mike Ligibel, and Walt Reed.
To all our VETERANS – thank you for your service and sacrifice. All of you kept us safe. We salute you we honor you and God Bless You and our USA !!
