Shop with a Cop fundraiser happens Saturday, October 19, 12 noon – 3 pm at the Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill.

How does Shop with a Cop work?  The generosity of local donors, the Columbia Charter Township Police and Fire Departments, and volunteers gives kids a needed boost for the best Christmas ever.   How did this unfold in 2023?  Check out the video.

Last Christmas was merrier for the 30 local kids as Shop with a Cop shared the spirit of the season.  Chief Jay Niles’ department gave the kids a helping hand in buying presents for their families.  The kids boarded John LeFere’s motor home to be whisked to Jackson’s Walmart.  The trip is one the kids won’t forget.  As the motor home departed the school ground, it was escorted by police, with lights flashing, and sirens blaring along Jefferson Road.

Here are the kids just before boarding John LeFere’s motor home.

At Walmart, officers helped the kids purchase the gifts.

From Walmart, the motorhome took them to the Brooklyn Sportsmen Club.  Club members and police helped with the wrapping.  As you can see, Santa was hand.  Each student received a present of his or her own.

The day was made complete with lunch served by the Club.

Shop with a Cop donations topped $14,000 last year, making it possible to double the number of kids.

To contribute, stop by the fundraiser at the Eagle’s Nest on Saturday, October 19th noon – 3 pm.  Checks can also be dropped off at the Columbia Township office.  Checks should be written to Columbia Charter Township with Shop with a Cop in the memo line.
