Clark Lake’s Big Weekend kicked off with an even more popular Run Clark Lake.  Race Director Pat Dwyer reports a wonderful turnout, an increase of 100 more than last year.  Although the temperature by 10 am had not yet climbed over 78,  humidity of 80% made for sweaty conditions.

Run Clark Lake celebrated its 49th anniversary today (Sat 8/3).  Check out this video to see how the events came together.  Pat Dwyer explains how Run Clark Lake has grown into a major event from its earlier days as the CL7.

The finish line defines the results.  As runners pass by, the electronic reader picks up the signal from the bib each runner wears, providing exact times.  Here are some stop-action photos at the finish line.

The kids pass over the same finish line for their event.

Fans cheer on the competitors.  Here are three people-watching slide shows.

Without volunteers joining the effort, events like these would not happen.  In addition to those at the event, Clark Lakers camped out along the route to offer runners water to drink or to be sprayed with water.  Turns out that was useful given sunny weather and high humidity.  Ann Swain reports many 12Kers requested a double-dose of water for a cool down at her Hyde Road location

Here are a few of the many volunteers that make Run Clark Lake a reality.

  • Ambulance service and Chief Jay Niles
  • Beach Bar's John Collins
