The North Shore heroes who put together the repaving project saw results yesterday (Fri 7/20).  The promise of greatly improved roads became a reality.  This video was recorded late Friday afternoon.

Neighbors joined in funding the project.  Ralph Mahalak Jr totals it at $125,000.  On May 29th at Ralph’s house, the signing ceremony with Jim Cole of the Jackson County Department of Transportation (JCDOT) took place.  Pictured, after the signing, are JCDOT’s Jim Cole, with Clark Lake’s Henry Lindeman, Joan and Ralph Mahalak, Chris White.

The paving project encompasses these sections and some work continues at the time this story was published:   5500 to 7807 North Shore, 7875 to E Lane, Pleasant View, F Lane, and Kentucky Avenue.  The ride?  Like a 1978 Pontiac Bonneville with Radial Tuned Suspension.

Last summer, Henry Lindeman and residents had an 800 foot section of North Shore Drive paved in a similar manner.  Neighbors pitched in to cover the cost, and the Jackson County Department of Transportation arranged for the work to be done.

Another Clark Lake road improvement took place on Eagle Point Drive in October 2022, but financing was handled in a different manner.  A special assessment district (SAD) was established, and residents paid for the work through property taxes.
