Paris may have the Olympics, but Clark Lake sets the pace in another way with the Kids Triathlon. On an awesome Saturday (7/28), 36 of the Clark Lake’s finest gathered at the Yacht Club to compete in three contests – swim, bike and run.
Triathlon Director Dan Omo explains how it works in this video. How do parents feel about the event? Watch for comments from Pat Collins, Bryan & Jennifer Ricker, Justin & Carrie Snider.
These slideshows show some of the athletes in action. First event is the swim.
Next the competitors grab their bikes.
Then it’s the fun of the run.
Competitors are divided into two age groups – 8 and under, and 9 to 14. Here are the results.
Third place in the 9 to 14 group went to Ransom Klepal. Due to a two-second miscalculation at the event, the medallion was awarded to Gabby Zimmer. Ransom will receive his medallion to correct the error.
Wait, there’s more! After the three main events came the Kayak competition. In this slide show, you’ll see both the kids and adults take to the lake.
While all of this was going, who were the fans in the stands? Parents, grandparents and other well-wishers turn this into an event for families and neighbors.
Raft-O-Rama puts together Kids Triathlon in collaboration with the Clark Lake Yacht Club. Events like these don’t happen without a crew. Thanks to these volunteers.
