Oakwood residents got a jolt of sorts midday yesterday (Monday, Oct 11).  Columbia Township Police report a Modern Waste garbage truck struck a utility pole as the truck was exiting a private drive onto Oakwood.  Chief Jay Niles said the impact “caused the pole to break in half.”  One resident reported flashes due to electrical lines arcing, and power was out for some homes for a while.  Consumers Energy was contacted and soon arrived on the scene.  Neighbor Lisa Riley took this photo at 1:07 pm.

These photos below show Consumers Energy at work in the 6 pm hour.

Police say “the driver was found responsible for the crash.”  The accident was investigated by Officer Scrumpler.
