Having opened on July 29, 2021, Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill is now heading into its fourth year.   Owner Blair Huff says “we couldn’t be more pleased with the response from Clark Lake.  It feels like family.”  Blair says this July 4th week is special.  “We’re looking forward to it – it’s when the Eagle’s Nest gets the most visits.”  Blair also points to a new menu that will be in effect this week.  “It’s simpler and focuses on the most popular items.” He adds, “some items we tried as specials got so much attention, we added them to the new menu – Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Smoked Trout Dip.  During this week, we’re celebrating with special Zims Premium Lakeside Cocktails.”

Blair went on to emphasize the restaurant’s hallmarks which he describes as “commitment to quality and freshness.”

The Eagle’s Nest regularly features live entertainment.  “Guests are loving the Lakeside Patio Live…you couldn’t be closer to the water.”  The music acts are staged on a modified raft, tied to the patio.  When asked about special events, Blair pointed to a live DJ Dre on July 4th, 4 pm – 9 pm, Blackstone Steel on July 6th, 7 pm – 9 pm, and Braydon Lape on July 24th, 6 pm – 9 pm.

That last event relives the sight of a rocket launched from Grass Lake.  Braydon Lape, one of Grass Lake’s own, became a rising star on season 22 of NBC’s the Voice.   Braydon achieved a top five victory on the show with the help of his fans and coach, Blake Shelton.

Much has happened since Blair Huff reopened the Eagle’s Nest, starting with changing the name from the Pointe to the iconic moniker that recalls endearing memories of Clark Lake’s past.  Since that start, Blair has embraced the Clark Lake community. That includes hosting Raft-O-Rama, Shop with a Cop, Ladies Night Out, and support for the restoration of the Community Center.  Recently he made floorspace available at the Shipwreck Party Store for the sale of Raft-O-Rama’s Independence Day luminaries.

Flashback to when the Dunigan’s owned Eagle Point.  When rumors surfaced that ownership might change, it became the talk of Clark Lake.  This website committed to reporting on whatever might be ahead.  At the time, Blair owned Lucero’s. An October 8, 2020 article on this website revealed how Blair’s evening visit to Eagle Point inspired what was to come:

“Blair’s uncle, Pete McGowan was visiting from St. Louis, Missouri, and was staying at one of the Dunigan cottages at the Point.  After dinner at Lucero’s, Blair drove Pete back to the Point.  In the glow of a brilliant Clark Lake sunset, Blair had an epiphany.  The next day, he got in touch with the Dunigan’s and asked them if they would be willing to sell.  That would include the Marina, boat slips, party store and cottages.  Talks began, and ended with a “yes.” The deal moved forward.

The restaurant came next.  The evening before it opened to the general public in 2021, the newly named Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill invited guests to take a look.  These photos are from that evening.

Eagle Point has a storied history.  Its succession of owners – Rollo Every, Cal Pittman, Dunigans – left their mark.  Now Blair Huff’s legacy is unfolding.  Eagle Point’s impact goes beyond its mid lake location.  Eagle Point has a penchant for creating memories through countless events, activities and personal interactions that become part of it.  All of that guarantees an indelible place in the hearts and minds of generations of Clark Lakers.
