Last winter, the lake thawed twice. On January 31st ice floes jammed the dam and the stream beyond it, and it looked like flooding could result. Columbia Township officials considered options and were preparing for action if it became necessary. It was thought that a back-hoe might be the right tool to free up the jam. As it turned out, the situation corrected itself and all was well. Fortunately the dam reconstruction, undertaken by the Clark Lake Spirit Foundation, was mostly complete and the dam withstood the extra pounding without problem.
