“I’ve never seen so many people at this parade before,” said Flip Reynolds.  And he should know.  As a long time Clark Lake resident and former Columbia Township trustee, Flip has a good handle on events that have taken place over the years, including the annual Brooklyn Christmas parade.

The weather cooperated.  With temperatures in the 40s, and the warmth of the Christmas spirit in the air, the crowd welcomed Santa in a big way.  Clark Lake went into action by chauffering Santa in style on a decorated raft in the parade.  The float was the design of Blair Huff and Jorge Orozco.  You know them from the Eagle’s Nest, Eagle Point Marina, and Lucero’s.   The parade’s finale was Santa disembarking from the raft, stepping into the Gazebo, and receiving a key to the village from Brooklyn’s new president, Terry Mahr.  In the video, you’ll see the arrival to the square first, then many of the floats along the route leading to the square.

The vehicle towing the raft has a special history.  Eagle Point Marina’s Tom McCutchen is the owner.  His great uncle served in Korea, as did the truck.  As the sign notes, Sgt. Lyon was a machine gunner.  Returning to civilian life, he became a welder and machinist, and was well known for his work in the Jackson area.  He passed away in late 2021.

Santa was welcomed by the kids, and by Village President Terry Mahr. Here they are in the gazebo, along with Mrs. Claus.
